Code of Ethics

Revista Letral is ruled by the following Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE): https://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines.

1. The editorial board

The editorial board accepts and undertakes to follow the next guidelines of good conduct when forming part of Revista Letral.

The editorial board of Revista Letral is ultimately responsible for the scientific quality of the journal, for which it uses the scientific council as an independent body that ensures the quality of the publications. The editorial board is in charge of contacting and sending the received articles, assuring in all cases that they are reviewed by experts in the subject matter of the article. During the evaluation, the editorial board will assess the scientific quality of the texts. It will also be in charge of evaluating the adequacy of the articles with the contents of the journal and will be used in the detection of possible cases of plagiarism, using computer tools such as Turnitin.

The editorial board will follow the instructions made public for the reception and management of the manuscripts. It is ultimately responsible for the decision regarding the publication or rejection of an article, responsible for arbitration in cases of disagreement between reviewers. Its decision will not change except in exceptional circumstances. It is the responsibility of the editorial board to publish the dates of receipt and acceptance of the articles.

Confidentiality clause: the editorial board will only share information about the articles with the author or authors and the reviewers.

2. The authors

The authors will present original articles of their own research. The authors agree not to present reused contents of other works already published, and not to send the article simultaneously to another journal.

The authorship of a manuscript is limited to those persons who have taken part in the research and writing process of the article. The main author will be responsible for identifying their co-authors, and will also be responsible for all co-authors approving the version of the article sent to the journal.

The authors agree to recognize all the bibliographic sources used in the research and in the preparation of the manuscript, citing them following the guide provided by the journal. The authors will be responsible for the partial reproduction of other publications in their articles.

The authors will state the existence of conflicts of interest that may affect the evaluation of the manuscripts. The authors are responsible for declaring the sources of funding for the research that has resulted in the article.

The errors contained in the manuscripts are the responsibility of their authors, and their correction will be requested by them to the journal.

3. The evaluators

The articles sent to Revista Letral, once they have passed the assessment of the committee on their adequacy to the contents of the journal, are subject to a system of double-blind peer review. The evaluators are responsible for writing a report on the article in which they commit themselves to make a decision between the proposal for its publication, the proposal for its publication with the introduction of modifications or the proposal for its rejection.

The evaluators undertake to express their qualification for the review of the article to be reported. Likewise, they must state whether they can carry out the report within the proposed term.

The evaluators undertake to base their report and to express in a clear and reasoned way their criticisms and suggestions, making use of secondary bibliography if they need it. Evaluators can identify relevant publications not included in the articles in their reports, to support their evaluation or to suggest that they be introduced into the text.

In case of detecting plagiarism or any practice that attempts against this declaration, the evaluators commit themselves to communicate it immediately to the editorial board through the editor.

The evaluators undertake to report any possible conflicts of interest in which they may be found, either because of their competitiveness or because of any relationship with the authors or with their institutions.

The evaluators undertake to treat the manuscripts as confidential documents. The contents of the same will not be made public, and the information obtained in the evaluation process will not be used in any case for the benefit of the evaluators.
