Historians of Spanish Literary Criticism have often used the terms “los dos Alonsos” to briefly refer, not only to Dámaso and Amado Alonso, but to the whole tendency to stylistic idealism that was dominant in almost all the Hispanic field between the fourties and the sixties of the twentieth century. Even recognising that the terms are clearly unfair regarding the specific qualities of each author’s work, in this paper we will explore the reasons of its success; the background unity of both critics, in terms of their philosophy of language but also of their politics, using on this regard the notion of “intimacy” as it was established by José Luis Pardo (1998).Downloads
