François Rabelais e João Carlos Marinho: um gordo, dois gordos

RESUMO: O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar uma análise comparativa entre as obras Sangue Fresco (1982), do autor infantojuvenil João Carlos Marinho (1935—), e Gargântua e Pantagruel (1532-52), do escritor francês renascentista François Rabelais (1494-1553), elegendo-se o intertexto como meio de apropriação deste clássico da literatura ocidental pelo autor brasileiro. A partir do estudo realizado por Bakhtin em A Cultura Popular na Idade Média e no Renascimento (1987), procura-se perceber a contribuição da leitura e releitura da obra de Rabelais em um texto de alta qualidade estética voltado ao público infantil. O humor, o nonsense, o hiperbolismo, entre outras características, permeiam as aventuras da turma do Gordo, cuja relação com as narrativas de Rabelais confirmam sua inserção na melhor tradição da literatura infantil brasileira e ocidental.
ABSTRACT: Te aim of this article is to present a comparative analysis between the books Sangue Fresco (1982), by the author for children and young adults João Carlos Marinho (1935—), and Gargantua and Pantagruel (1532-52), by Renaissance French writer François Rabelais (1494-1553), electing the intertext as a means of appropriation of this Western literature classic by the Brazilian author. Anchored on Bakhtin’s study Te Popular Culture in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance (1987), we seek to understand the contribution of reading and revisiting Rabelais’ work in a text of high aesthetic quality which has young adults and children as its target audience. Humor, nonsense, hyperbolism, among other characteristics, permeate the adventures of Fatty’s bunch, whose relationship with Rabelais’s narrative substantiates its insertion in the best tradition of the Brazilian and Western literature for children and young adults.
