Abstract

This paper intends to reflect upon the adaptations and new interpretations of the dramatic figure of Antigone along the times, from her frrst performance, the Sofocles' Antigone, at Athens probably in 441 b. C. until our days. Special attention is given to the adaptations written by dramatists from Spain, Portugal and the Iberoamerican countries. In order to offer same not much knew examples, the authors comment the works about Antigone of Leopoldo Marechal (1951 ), María Zambrano (1967), María Xosé Queizán (1989) and Hélia Correia (1991).
