Social representation of the teacher: mapping the research

The characteristics of the teacher and their job is one of the topics that arouses the most interest among different agents. Everyone at some point in their life has had contact with at least one teacher. These previous experiences, but also the characters represented in the media, generate the social representations of teachers. This proximity to the figure of the teacher means that the construction of social representation is influenced by various factors. In this work, a bibliometric study was combined with a content analysis, whose objective was to know the social representation of teachers in the 21st century. Following the PRISMA method, a total of 93 articles available in the Scopus, WOS or Dialnet databases will be selected. The results show the increase in productivity, collaboration and co-citation networks, as well as the co-citation of keywords, and the social representation of teachers in the world, based on different stages and areas of knowledge and the factors that are linked to identity and professional development. Therefore, it is essential to continue delving deeper due to the implications it has on the student, future teachers and society.
