Abstract

It is necessary to study drug use due to its significance and complexity. This paper

reviews sorne studies and methods for influencing prescribing. Drug use studies are

intented to measure performance in pharmaceutical treatment and patient care practices.

Objective measures or indicators allow to make basic comparisons about practices between

individual health facilities or prescribers or between groups at a given point in time or

changes over time. In recent years several types of interventions have been developed to

improv.e drug use practices but the most effective programs utilize continuing education
