Behaviour of reforested Abies pinsapo Boiss. in the Sierra de Huétor Nature Park (Granada, Spain)
Keywords:
Abies pinsapo, Boiss, Sierra de Huétor Nature Park.Abstract
Following the discovery of populations of Abies pinsapo Boiss. reforested at the
tum of the century, a phyto-sociological, ecological and demographic study is made in
order to evaluate the behaviour and naturalization of this species in the Sierra de Huétor
Nature Park.
One of the most important factors in the maintenance of these populations is the
soil moisture level, which corrects and supplements rainfall deficits that could negatively
affect this species outside its natural habitat.
The degree of naturalization is such that in certain areas where human and animal
impact is minor the species behaves as the dominant climax taxon.
