Focus and Scope

Contents sensible to CHALLENGES XXI are all those with an affinity to the thematic of the Special Education, the Inclusive Education, the School for Everybody and, so, the Attention to the Special Educational Needs and the Diversity, as well as those thematic contributions that set a challenge to the current School of the new century (as its title states), which improve the quality of their teaching and learning process.  That is materialized in formats of articles and summaries that meet the previous thematic requirements and prove to be original in both the format as the scientific contribution for the knowledge area in which it is inscribed.

Its structure and patronage includes the university adscription as a summary of the knowledge the institutional adscription of the educational praxis, as its own origin and destination.

All of this has an international framework that is equally configurated in all the committees of the CHALLENGES XXI journal.

Peer Review Process

The main office of the journal will notify the authors when their works are received. The editorial committee will evaluate the thematic correspondence and the quality of the works and will decide to send the work to a blind reviewing for the evaluation of the journal or to return the work in order to make any necessary correction and then send it back. Texts that do not meet the requirements demanded by CHALLENGES XXI will be returned to their authors, as well as those that Turmitin program detects as plagiarism above 15%, including the auto plagiarism or involuntary plagiarism.

Once the pairs evaluate the articles, they follow an assessment process by specialists of the related subjects, selected among the team of reviewers of the journal and/or professional related to the topic of the work. These advisors, out of the editorial committee of the CHALLENGES XXI, will submit an inform of their evaluation on a platform given by the journal, after receiving the work, checking its quality, relevance, contributions, and current interest, and formal structure. The editorial committee of the journal and the platform will guarantee the anonymity of the texts being assessed as well as the reviewers; likewise, the minimum processing time, making closer the communication with the reviewers.

The evaluations will, suggested by the card that the reviewers will receive, the suitability of the title and the topic, structure of the summary (following the IMRD order), Introduction, Method, Results, and Discussion, structure of the work (according to the presentation of the investigation inform), content and consistency of the IMRD sections; theoretical support in bibliographical references (properly updated and APA-sixth-edition formatted) as well as the scientific writing and the contribution of its content.

Once the selected pairs receive the evaluations, the authors will get a written notification in the framework of the platform, together with the decision taken. In case of a disagreement, a third blind evaluation will be carried out. The decision can be: forward accepted with changes, accepted with substantial notifications or forward rejected.

In case of a provisional or definite acceptance, the editorial committee, through the office of CHALLENGES XXI, will be in permanent session with the authors so that they check the proposed corrections and the latest version of the manuscripts; that is to say, both the modifications in the content and the form the reviewers are demanding in the format and the layout of the work for its edition.

Publication Frequency

CHALLENGES XXI releases a unique yearly publication. As the publications are accepted, after the revision made by the pairs, the authors are notified and these works are sent to the internal database. Each volume will be closed in October and released in November of every year. 

Open Access Policy

The journal provides a whole and immediate open access to its content, based on the idea of giving the users a free access to all the contributions collected by the review, which contributes to a better total and international interchange within a globalized society.
