Since 2020, the Center d’Estudis de Penyagolosa -CEP- has been working together with the University Extension Program -PEU- of the Universitat Jaume I to develop a territorial project around the people and heritage of the four municipalities of the Mancomunitat de Penyagolosa - Pobles del Nord in the province of Castellón (Atzeneta del Maestrat, Benafigos, Vistabella del Maestrat and Xodos). The main challenge is to add people, groups, associations, companies and institutions of the territory to, together, define the heritage community of Penyagolosa.
In this process of collective construction, on July 2 and 3, 2022, conferences were held to bring together four models of community organization based on participation that would serve as a starting point for their analysis and subsequent basis for designing their own heritage project: the cultural association, citizen laboratories, cultural and community libraries, and ecomuseums.
In order to prepare this event and learn more about the four models, a steering group was formed made up of institutional and cultural representatives from the four municipalities who met periodically and generated a strong relationship with both the project and the event.
