Introduction: The Patexplor@ project "I look, I read, I get excited", developed at the Faculty of Education Sciences (University of Malaga), is partially presented. It was launched from various subjects to empower trainee teachers to create storytelling using cultural heritage as a holistic resource.
Method: Training programmes were designed to promote acquiring knowledge and skills to produce video storytelling for childhood education.
Results: heritage was a catalyst for the different audiovisual stories created through ITCs. In addition, collaborative work, research integration, and social and civic competence were encouraged.
Conclusions: The training in the design of appropriate tools is key to improving the didactic use of heritage in the formal environment, thus favouring the learning of abstract notions such as space, time, participation and identity.
