The current professional disorientation of young people from the autonomous community of the Canary Islands today
Keywords:
Disorientation, orientation, occupation, academics professions, vocation professionsAbstract
The “sarcasm” used in the title of the present work (“disorientation” instead of “unsuitable orientation”) increases the value of the social problem that the present work tries to clarify and to provide with solutions. Certainly, our conclusion is that an orientation to a generic occupation must be done in young people, with appropriate clarifications and, finally, giving them all the information about the academic path they must take. We discuss about five general professions (first decision to take by grade schoolers) and about the role of the social institutions, mainly the family, primary and secondary educational centers and universities in orienting young people and keep coordinated while doing this task. The empiric work has been done in Canary Islands.
