Abstract

It is a natural region located at the southern part of Sierra Nevada, in a valley-oriented East-West that is delimited between these mountains and those of Lújar, Contraviesa and Gádor. Guadalfeo, Adra and Andarax rivers irrigate this land. It has a mild-continental climate also influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. Lithology is composed of micasquists, quartzites, amphibolites and slates. It also has a fairly diverse flora, an economy based on the diverse traditional crops, a rich historical legacy and a unique housing style.
