Abstract

By analyzing Havana’s Teatro Principal and its particular architectonic stages during the first half of the Nineteenth Century, this paper aims to point out complementary issues such as the profound impact that certain urban cores had on the bourgeois collective mindscape, the remarkable influence of North American liberalism and French romantic aesthetics and manners, besides illegal interventions made by army engineers over several private works.
