The Foreing House: the Historical Error of the House “Juan de Castellanos” in Tunja (Colombia)

Abstract

The city of Tunja preserves artistic and architectural vestiges of its colonial past, as one of the main urban centers of the Nuevo Reino de Granada during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, among which vestiges stand out the houses of some of its most illustrious residents. This report summarizes a sample of the research conducted to reveal the identity of the owners of one of these houses, which is one of the most important pictorial sets on civil latin american architecture.
