Abstract

The aim of this paper is to show the influence of “Crime and Punishment” on the writings of Polish writers. Considerable importance, incomprehensible to the non-Polish scholars, occupies in my work the reflection of the specificity of the Polish reception of Dostoevsky’s novels. In my paper I strongly emphasize not only the admiration of Polish artists  (Bolesław Prus, Henryk Sienkiewicz, Witold Gombrowicz, Czesław Miłosz) for Crime and Punishment, but also their attempt to polemic on artistic ground with Dostoyevsky’s ideas.
