This special issue of the international journal of slavistics "Slavic World" resting in the hands of our esteemed readers is dedicated to the Russian literary estate. How is this one different from the historical, authentic estate, from the one where we can enter, walk along its paths, feel with the palm of the hand the fresh touch of its ancient stones, brighten the view with the harmonious proportions of the buildings, occupy the mind and the memory of the exploits of its former owners? Firstly, in that the literary estate is an artistic work directly related to its historical-concrete material archetype. This is the reason why the authors of our issue deal with the stately topic, its mythopoetics, its symbolism, the problems of its artistic space and time, its peculiarities in terms of arguments and types of composition, the stately typology and characterology, the details of its material representation, the language and style of "stately" works, the dynamics of their literary forms, among other aspects. Not only that, because the literary estate is often also understood in another way: as the estate of a writer, that is, as an empirical, concrete place where he lived and worked. In the twentieth century and today, as a rule, they are museum-estates: Mikhailovskoye, Serednikovo, Yasnaya Polyana, Karabija, Shakhmatovo and many others. This publication also presents the literary estate from this perspective.
