Abstract

This article deals with the analysis of Raskolnikov’s personality through the lens of the current psychiatry. Dostoevsky Fyodor Mikhailovich suggested psychological basis of his work when wrote a letter to the publisher.
This particular suggestion motivated me to analyze Raskolnikov’s life, thoughts and behavior as a professional psychiatrist. I’ve tried to find causes of the crime that different to the typical understanding and to prove that ideas
and actions of the novel’s central character were abnormal.
