In 2024, we commemorate the 120th anniversary of the death of Anton P. Chekhov, a prominent writer and playwright whose work has left an indelible mark on global literature. Chekhov is known for his realistic storytelling, but he also introduced innovative elements in his short stories, parodies, and lyrical-psychological narratives. These elements range from mythological allusions and intermediality to subtler aspects of psycho-narration, reflecting his experiences in medicine and psychopathology. His work intersects symbolism and modernity, providing insights into the complexity of the human soul and the tensions experienced by his characters. We are particularly interested in articles that offer innovative interpretations, contemporary readings, and practical applications of Chekhov's legacy in today's dynamics, as well as studies that transcend disciplines and cultural perspectives to show how Chekhov's legacy continues to resonate and be interpreted in today's society.

Proposed topics:

  • Life and works of Chekhov;
  • Chekhov and world literature;
  • Chekhov in the history of thought;
  • Characterization and character in Chekhov's works;
  • Legacy, reception, and influence of Chekhov’s works in literature and art;
  • Translations of Chekhov’s works.
