Abstract
Mameluke sources provide a living image of female characters not deprived of contrasts. In this paper a translation and study of the representation of the female charac- ters in the dramatic trilogy Ṭayf al-Jāyāl of Ibn Dāniyāl is provided, with a special focus on the figure of the go-between Umm Rašīd, her characterization, voice and interaction with the opposite sex.
