Abstract

The thought of History as magistra vitae, one of the stoical common-places, plays a dominat rule in the Diodorus' historiographic program. In his military narrations he gives concrete form to this intention basically in the epilogue. We analyse in this paper the epilogues of the battles of Himera and Tanagra, both in a historical and litterary perspectives: sources, confrontation with other versions and the retorical proceeding used to articulate the subject.
