Abstract

This work has been traditionally regarded as another proof of the magnificent Lucianic wit for mocking or ludie pieces, in which ancient myths only served as support for satirical exercises. This hedonistic view continues to be valid but a further analysis of the rethoric elements of the Prometheus leads to a more sophisticated survery that points the subjancent perplexities and intuitions present in all great literature. The intention to manipula te the palimpsestous figure of Prometheus requires a compromise with human condition from which Lucian could not be an exception.
