Abstract

In this paper we report on an investigation conducted at the University of Malaga aimed at deepening our understanding of a central issue for the development of self-concept: the primary socialization process among Moroccan immigrants’ sons and daughters. Bearing in mind that the family is one of the main actors involved in the socialization of these young people, we have set three main goals: 1. knowing and understanding the values and socio-educational conceptions of Moroccan parents who have settled in Spain, 2. observing the influence that certain variables (such as parental occupation, socio-educational level, place of birth) have on their values and conceptions, and 3. recording the impressions they have about education in Spain.
