Abstract
The Schola Cantorum "Catedral de León" was a musical partnership which stimulated the musical life of León (Spain) in an unusual way. It included a mixed choir of boys and men, a chamber choir of male voices, a chamber orchestra and a group of Andean music. From a pedagogical point of view, it promoted the creation of a children's choir in each of the schools in Leon, the so-called “aulas corales”, a project that it still active and whose most remarkable consequences were the transfer of this educational model to other nearby towns (Oviedo, Avilés y Ponferrada). Despite its brief existence (only 12 years), among its former members there are a remarkable number of present-day distinguished composers, Spanish university musicologists, teachers from high and middle conservatories and music schools, renowned artists and other professionals.
