Abstract

Ali analytical or critica! studies of Buñuel's Tristana ( 1970) make reference to the protagonist's amputated leg to such an extent, indeed, that for sorne authors it becomes the real protagonist of the film. This study aims to explain the immense and subversive energy which emanates from these shots - driving images, to adapt Deleuze's terminology- which are so typical of Buñuel's work, through an analysis of selected sections of the film.
