Abstract

The present paper examines the activities of Ignacio Zuloaga and his uncle Daniel Zuloaga as critics, collectors and art dealers with regard to the paintings of Dominico Theotocópuli ‘El Greco’ (1541-1614), within the context of his rediscovery –artistic, historical and commercial– at the end of the 19th and during the first decades of the 20th centuries. An analysis of the correspondence between Ignacio and Daniel allows us to follow the course of this many-sided story in a more informed manner.
