Abstract

This paper presents two polychromed wood sculptures of the Virgin of Sorrows and St John from the ‘Casa de los Pisa’ Museum in Granada. Due to similarities in style, technique and form, I propose the hypothesis that both images were part of a Calvary with a Crucifix from the hospital of San Juan de Dios in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz). Furthermore, the complete set is closely linked to the Sevillian workshop of Pedro Roldán.
