Abstract
Obesity treatment must be based on the prescription of a balanced diet providing a lower caloric intake than patient's body requirements and on the promotion of healthy eating habits.
Never theless, at present sorne master formulas containing thyroid derivatives, anphetamines, digitalis, laxatives, diuretics, and antispasmodics are proliferating in our country. This paper reviews the actives principles involved in these master formulas, which we assurne should not be prescribed, according to ethical, deontologics and legal principIes, as well as others that might be present in dietary regime and belong to phytoterapies field.
