Toxicidad de xenobióticos mediada por radicales libres de oxígeno

La toxicidad de muchos xenobióticos está mediada por la formación de radicales libres de oxígeno. Estos xenobióticos son reducidos por un electrón produciendo especies químicas que reaccionan con el oxígeno molecular (O2) para dar lugar a radiculaes anión superóxido (O2) y regenerar la molécula original. De este modo se crea un ciclo redox que implican un gran consumo de O2 y de equivalentes redox, principalmente en forma de NADPH. Los radicales libres producidos durante este ciclo redox, así como las especies reactivas derivadas de él, serían los responsables del daño celular causado por dichos xenobióticos.Downloads
