Immunomodulatory activity of methanol extract of roots of Cissampelos pareira Linn
Keywords:
haemagglutination antibody titre, DTH response, Phagocytic index, MyelosuppressionAbstract
Methanol extract of roots of C.pareira was screened for its immunomodulatory activity in mice at fivedifferent dose levels. Stimulatory activity on DTH response was found at 200-800 mg/kg dose (p<0.001).Phagocytic index was also increased significantly compared to control animals (p<0.001). Methanolextract has not altered the humoral response to SRBCs significantly indicating no activity on humoralimmunity. Higher doses of extract also offered protection against cyclophosphamide induced myelosuppressionby increasing total WBC count significantly (p<0.001). Thus present study demonstrated the immunomodulatoryactivity of C.pareiraDownloads
