Abstract
New demands on the training of pharmaceutical profession have arisen, which, in turn respond to the various social demands. AlI these colud be included within the generic name of Parapharmacy, being defined as Orthopedics for Pharmacists, Opthalmic Optics and Optometrics, together with Audiometric Acoustics, Fitopharmacy, Dermopharmacy and Pharmaceutical Cosmetics, besides Nutrition and Dietetics, Homeopathy and consultive attention for durg dependency. All these services have been developing more or less intensively and at different rates in the various Community dispensary models, and in order to give fuII satisfaction to the professional education, we will have to design training courses to complement the curriculum in the Pharmacy degree. The University of Alcala de Henares, very receptive to these demands has begun by implementing a specialised course in Orthopedics for pharmacists, whose subject prograrnme is enclosed. This year a pilot course in Dennophannacy and phannaceutical Cosmetics has also begun, and there is an advanced project for a specialised course in Fotophannacy to respond to the Community precepts regarding the handling, treatment and dispensing of medicinal plants within pharmaceutical limits.
