Abstract
The secondary metabolites isolated from different species of Ononis are revised, being flavonoids, alkylresorcinols and isocoumarins extensively distributed. The phytotherapeutic use of sorne species of the genus and the use of the compounds isolated from extracts as drugs or as synthons in the preparation of cannabinoids and macroliges of pharmaceutical significance is revised too.
