Abstract

The effect of kinetin and methionine on radicle emergence and growth in Phaseolus vulgaris, L. var. eagle seeds has been studied, together with its effect on ethylene production. Concentrations 10-4 M of exogenous kinetin and methionine increase germination. Concentrations of more than 10 -4 M results in diminished germination. The growth of the embryonic axis is enhanced by kinetin and methionine. The presence of kinetin of methionine in the germination medium always increased the rate of ethylene production for each of the vegetable materials used.
