Abstract

Toxicity studies (DL-50) and the Irwin's observation test on differents preparations from the root, stalk, leaves and fruits of Glaucium flavum Crantz have been described. The results on the Claucium flavum toxicity have showed that the DL-50 ranged between 1.160 mg/kg and 6.900 mg/kg. From the results of the Irwin's test it could be concluded that the plant causes reductions in spontaneus motility and produces a decrease in normal body temperature (hypothermity).
