Abstract
The effects of five experimental diets on growth and several biometrical indices in rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) were studied during 135 days. Two protein level diet were essayed (47 & 38 per cent) and the protein / energy ratio for every diet was different too. The experimental conditions were the same of a fishfarm and the feeding period was divided in two parts: pair feed and ad libitum. The growth rate on the pair feed period was conditioned by the diet energy level without any appreciate effect of the low protein diets. In the ad libitum period the diet protein level was the main factor affecting weight increase; however, sorne biometrical indices were influenced by the digestible energy of the diet
