Abstract
The behaviour of Dermacentor (D.) marginatus adult ticks in their feeding on rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus L.) is studied. In experimental conditions, tick females fed on the host during 11.1 days (8-14), while males stayed on it for 17.6 days (15-22). The massive dropping-off of the males took place once a1l the females had left the host. The 80.8 per cent of the males and 77.1 per cent of the females fed on rabbits successfully to total engorgement. The features of the D. (D.) marginatus feeding-pattern on rabbits are compared with other cornmon tick species in our area.
