Abstract

A study on the feeding pattem followed by the livestock tick, Rhipicephalus (Digineus) bursa (adults) on rabbits, was carried out. In our experimental conditions, tick females fed on the host during 7.6 days (6-11), while males stayed on it for 13.7 days (10-17). The massive dropping-off of the males took place once practically all the females had left the host. The 80 per cent of adult ticks fed on rabbits to total engorgement successfully.
