Abstract
During the lactating stage the greater part of the volume of bile secreted is due to the bile salts dependent fraction of canalicular origino In the young ruminant goats this fraction contributes to a lesser degree to the total volume of bile secreted. In both groups of animals the effect of the interruption of the enterohepatic circulation of bile salts are due to the loss of bile salts and not to the loss of electrolytes.
