Abstract
A U.V. spectrophotometric study of 5-hidroxymethyl furfurol tiosemicarbazone was performed. It has a maximum at 322 nm and is stable for seven days. Absorbance doesn't vary in a range of pH from 2 to 9. Lambert-Beer's law is obyed for 5-hidroxymethyl furfurol concentrations between 1.1O-5 M and 5.1O-5 M. Molar absortivity is E322 = 30500 M-1 L cm-1
