Abstract

The structure of the ethilenediaminetetraallyl was elucidated by MS, NMR and IR espectrofotometries, and syntheses condicions for the preparation of the complex of this ligand with anhydrous nickel (II) chloride are described. The obtained solid violet complex shows to be non-conductor in acetone and monomeric in chloroform solutions. IR espectral studies indicate that in the solid state there are two types of aliphatic c:c bond present. It is concluded that two double bonds are coordinated and the other two are free. H NMR data indicate that all the four vinyl c:c bonds are equivalent in solution, and are shifted with respect to the ligand free, indicating a rapid bonded ←→  non-bonded equilibrium for the - CH2 . CH:CH2 groups to the nickel atom. An octahedral structure with the ligand tetracoordinated and two chlorine atomons in cis positions is proposed for the solid complexo.
