Abstract
Se ha sintetizado el ácido carboxietilendiaminotetraacético por reacción del monoclorhidrato del ácido dl-2,3 diaminopropiónico con ácido monocloroacético. La valoración potenciométrica y conductimétrica del producto blanco obtenido revela un carácter fuertemente ácido de tres protones, siendo débil el cuarto y muy débil el quinto protón. Los valores de pK, deducidos por el método de Bjerrum son pK2 = 2,78; pK3 = 3,88; pK4 = 5,76 y pK5 = 10,00. Para el pK se obtiene un valor de 2, no muy seguro, por el método de Schwarzenbach. Se discuten las posibles razones de estos distintos valores de pK, en base a la constitución de la molécula. Los espectros de RMN y IR confirman la pureza de la sustancia, su mecanismo de disociación y la estructura de betaína del producto en disolución y en estado sólido.
