A review on solar radiation and its effect on skin has been made. Exposure to sunlight can have both beneficial and harmful effects on the human body, depending on the wavelenght and the frequency of exposure, the intensity of the sunlight and the sensitivity of the individual concerned. Solar radiation consists of a continuous spectrum of frequencies or wave lengths from the infrared through the visible light to the ultraviolet regio n and beyond.
