Asthma is a world-wide public health problem. The prevalence is rising in most countries. lt is an important motive of absenteeism from work and school. lt causes high morbidity and mortality, and very high costs.
Scientific evidence reveals that asthma is an underdiagnosed and undertreated disease, and there are available methods to make a correct diagnosis, treatment and control. An adaptation to Pharmaceutical Care is proposed, from the current evidence sources about asthma: Consensus G/NA· 98 and EPR-II-97.
