Abstract

Our goal is to develop in this article a series of events in the life of the Argentine writer Enrique Larreta (1873-1961) that generated the current Museum of Spanish Art in Buenos Aires. Starting with his first trips to Spain, the writing of his novel “La gloria de Don Ramiro”, the creation of his collection of Spanish art inspired by the theme of the novel, the works in his house to build a framework for the collection and finally its opening to the public as a Museum after his death.

Fernando Luis Martínez Nespral es arquitecto y Especialista en Historia y Crítica de la Arquitectura y el Urbanismo por la Universidad de Buenos Aires y Doctor en Historia por la Universidad Torcuato Di Tella.

Es profesor Titular de Historia de la Arquitectura e Investigador Principal del Instituto de Arte Americano e Investigaciones Estéticas, ambos en la Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Urbanismo, UBA.

Su trabajo se dedica a las relaciones España-Argentina en el campo de la arquitectura.
