Abstract

The Centro Andaluz of Havanna can be consideredas one of the most remarkable examples of the Andalucista movement out of Spain in the early twentieth century. In spite of the distance from Spain, it achieved the cooperation of the most notable Andalusian artist from its foundation, promoting the research on its artistic and scientific production, and giving diffusion in Havana in the early twentieth century.

Author Biography

Pedro Luengo Gutiérrez, Investigador ASEC. Universidad de Sevilla. Departamento de Historia del Arte. Facultad de Geografía e Historia, España.

Doctor en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de Sevilla con su tesis “Intramuros: arquitectura en Manila, 1739-1788”. Licenciado en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de Sevilla. Ha realizado estancias de investigación en distintos centros en Manila, México o Florencia. Recientementeha publicado varias monografías tales como Intramuros: arquitectura en Manila,1739-1762 (Madrid: FUESP, 2012), o Manila, plaza fuerte. Ingenieros militares entre Europa, América y Asia (Madrid, CSIC, 2014).
