Abstract

There are two major problems for convents in Spain, which are especially serious for female congregations: a lack of vocations and a lack of income. For these reasons, there are fewer and fewer convents, and their rich historic patrimony disappears with them. The present proposal constitutes one option to help provide economic support. As the convent is in the historic city centre, it has a rich heritage and a recently-built wing containing dormitories, kitchens, etc. The chapel, the chapter house and the choir continue their traditional use. The convent could be opened to cultural visits, after a rigorous study has been carried out, so that some of the empty rooms could be used.
