Abstract

Analysis of the literary and graphic sources of the theme of the Christ of the Encina from the theme of the “tree of life” in the cultures on both sides of the Atlantic prior to the viceregal times. Extremadura examples of the iconography of the Christ of the Encina, its peculiarities and inspiring sources.
