Onomastique arabe et histoire sociale: Prosopographie des officiers "Ğaˁfarides" en Al-Andalus au IVᵉ/Xᵉ siècle
Abstract
The aim of this article is to assess the value of applying the biographical and prosopographical methods to the social hístory of al-Andalus, taking into consideration and reviewing sorne sociological studies which have been carried out recently in the fields of modern history and the theory of sociology. Through the analysis of the nisba al-Jaˁfarī, this article also offers the 'reconstructed' biographies of eight figures who received this name and who constitute, in our opinion, a valuable example of 'micro-proposopography'.Downloads
