Abstract

According to greek mythographers, Theseus sailed forth with Herakles as a member of his expedition to bring back the girdle of Hippolyte, the ninth labour that Herakles performed at the command of Eurystheus. But this labour was originally a pre-dorian collective expedition against the Amazons, and its commander was Theseus.
