Almuñécar en el tránsito de la Antigüedad a la Edad Media

Abstract

In this report we talk about the formation of an islamic city, Almuñecar, seen from the point of view of facing the archaeological clues which show an important crisis in the old city during the last period of the Roman Age. This situation will lead to the disappearance of its category of city in the beginnings of the islamic domination. The birth of the Islamic city is a phenomenon which begins to be detected betwen the X th and XI th centuries. This fact reveals the breaking between both urban realities. And we also can appreciate their differencies regarding their internal organization and the relationships with the territory.
