Abstract

This paper presents an study of common elements in women' s voices since the classical period. The autor pans throughout the production of those womwn writers who used their works to let their voices heard in context of a traditional imposed silence. They are writers from different periods, Camelia, Perpetua, Paula and Eustoquia, Egeria and Rosvita, the common element being the use of latin language in their literary works. The paper concludes this panorarnic view with a rerninder of Isabel Allende's Paula (1994}, in which one may percieve a similar approach.
